"I'm late for school mum! Hurry up!" This sounds the wrong way around, but it was usual in the Leonatai Household. Hanishi was a teen who didn't follow the crowds, who had her own ideas and fashions, and who didn't take two hours getting ready in the mornings.
Her mum however, took the oh-so-necessary few hours each day to get showered, dressed, make-up done, breakfast eaten etc.
She often chided Hanishi about her lack of care about her presentation... But Hanishi didn't care.
So now on this average morning, Hanishi was sitting downstairs at the table, crimson bangs sweeping her face as she nodded her head to the music currently entering her ears from the black iPod she held, and tapping her Etnies gently on the floor so as not to wake her dad. He was a policeman but worked night shifts, so came home in the early hours of the morning and left just as Hanishi usually got home.
"I'm here honey." Hanishi rolled her eyes as soon as she saw her mother walk down the stairs. Her mum always drove her to school, because it was a while away but was to far to walk.
Too far to walk in the mornings anyway... Hanishi often went into town after school with her friends and walked the rest of the way home.
She faintly heard the front door open and got up, walking straight out to her mum's car. They sat in silence for the journey, there was still a small bit of friction between them from last night's argument. The only words spoken, were as Hanishi got out the car, a simple 'bye' from both mother and daughter.
With that, her mum drove off and Hanishi walked into school to find her friends.
